FBR chief defends vehicles procurement for daily operations amid opposition

The Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue, Rashid Langrial, defended the procurement of over 1,000 vehicles for young officers, stating that it is necessary for their daily operations. This comes after the Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue raised objections to the plan. The Finance Minister assured transparency in the procurement process, which is estimated to cost over Rs6 billion. The delivery of vehicles is planned in phases, with concerns raised about the exclusion of competitors in the bidding process. Despite criticism, the FBR chief emphasized the need for field officers to improve tax collection. In response to questions about tax collection in Karachi, Langrial explained that it is based on the presence of large companies in the city.
