Kentucky beats out UNC, Alabama for Jasper Johnson commitment

New Kentucky basketball coach Mark Pope secured a big win on the recruiting trail with five-star guard Jasper Johnson committing to the Wildcats over North Carolina and Alabama. Johnson, a Lexington native, cited playing for his hometown school as a key factor in his decision. Standing at 6-foot-4, Johnson is known for his scoring abilities, shooting range, and defensive skills. Pope and his staff’s consistent and personal approach played a significant role in Johnson’s decision. With Johnson joining Malachi Moreno in the 2025 class, Kentucky is off to a strong start in recruiting top talent. Other top targets for the Wildcats include highly-ranked prospects like Nate Ament and Caleb Wilson.
