Comedian from ‘Anchorman’ and ‘Mr. Show’ sentenced in Jan. 6 Capitol attack

Hollywood actor Jay Johnston was sentenced to 12 months and a day in federal prison for his role in the Jan. 6 Capitol attack. Prosecutors said he was involved in violent acts during the chaos, including using a stolen police shield and pushing against officers. Despite his celebrity status, Johnston’s lawyer argued that he has been blacklisted in Hollywood and now works as a handyman. Over 1,100 people have been convicted in connection with the Capitol attack, with sentences ranging from a few days to 22 years in federal prison. Additional arrests are still taking place for those involved in assaulting officers during the attack.
