Oregon State AD: Pac-12 will look to add new schools quickly

The Pac-12 conference, which recently collapsed, is in the process of rebuilding and aims to add at least two more schools by 2026. Athletic director Scott Barnes emphasized the importance of moving quickly but making the right decisions. The new incarnation of the Pac-12 will include four teams from the Mountain West. The league needs to have at least eight teams to qualify for NCAA championships and the College Football Playoff. Barnes mentioned that there is significant interest from potential new members. While the process is ongoing, the goal is to finalize the expansion as soon as possible. The Pac-12 is currently taking advantage of a two-year grace period with just two active schools. The Mountain West Conference stands to benefit financially from the realignment.
