India Rejects Canadian Commission’s Report On Election Interference



India has rejected a report by the Canadian Commission alleging interference in Canada’s federal elections, stating that it is Canada that has been consistently interfering in India’s internal affairs. The Ministry of External Affairs retaliated against Ottawa for its alleged interference, denying insinuations of using proxy agents for financial support to candidates in Canada. The report also accused India of being the “second most active country” in electoral foreign interference in Canada. The strained relations between the two countries have led to a showdown, with Canada pausing trade talks with India and allegations of Indian diplomats being involved in criminal activities in Canada. India has repeatedly denied all allegations.
