The Indian High Commission in Canada reported violent disruptions outside a consular camp in Brampton, Ontario, following an attack on Hindu-Canadian devotees at a temple near Toronto. The Commission blamed “anti-India elements” for the violence and expressed disappointment at the lack of security measures provided by Canadian authorities. Despite the disruptions, the Consulate was able to issue over 1,000 life certificates to Indian and Canadian applicants. Local police deployed heavily to maintain calm during protests, and a federal lawmaker blamed the incident on Khalistanis. The incident has strained relations between Canada and India, with accusations of violence and intimidation on both sides.
