VA assistant principal charged with assault after 5-year-old goes home bruised

A school administrator at Spotswood Elementary School in Virginia, Misty Kelley, was arrested for allegedly assaulting a 5-year-old student. The child’s mother noticed bruising on the child’s back and ribs and the child claimed an adult at the school grabbed her because she didn’t want to walk. An investigation revealed that Kelley was the adult involved. Kelley was placed on administrative leave and charged with assault. She has since turned herself in and was released on her own recognizance. The school district has not yet commented on the situation.
