US Air Force Academy cadet, 19, found dead in dorm room

A 19-year-old cadet named Avery Koonce was found dead in her dorm room at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado. She was a member of the women’s track and field team and was set to graduate in 2028. The Academy has launched an investigation into her death. Koonce was described as a well-rounded student who was a leader in her high school community. U.S. Rep. Pete Sessions, who nominated Koonce to attend the Academy, expressed sadness over her passing. The Academy is providing support to Koonce’s family and the entire community is mourning her loss.
