UN agencies warn of food shortages, disease outbreaks in Lebanon

The World Food Programme has raised concerns about Lebanon’s ability to feed itself, as thousands of hectares of farmland in the south have been destroyed or abandoned due to Israeli attacks. The country’s agriculture and food production are at risk, with harvests not occurring and produce rotting in fields. Additionally, there is a higher risk of disease outbreaks among the displaced population. Israeli warplanes have carried out air strikes in various areas across Lebanon, including Beirut’s southern suburb and other towns in the south and east. The situation in Lebanon is dire, with both food security and public health at risk.
