UK’s ex-minister claims blocking India-UK free trade agreement over visa demands: Reports

Conservative MP Kemi Badenoch, who is a frontrunner for the Conservative Party chief and Opposition Leader position, claimed she blocked the India-UK free trade agreement due to demands for more visas. Some former Tory ministers disputed her claims, stating she was pushing for a deal and did not want to change UK immigration rules. Reports indicate FTA negotiations under a Labour government are set to begin, while UK officials have not set a timeline for resuming talks. Badenoch and opponent Robert Jenrick are focusing on immigration as a key campaign issue to win votes from Conservative members. The successor to Rishi Sunak will be announced on November 2.
