Turkiye seeks to join the BRICS bloc of emerging economies, a Kremlin official says

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has applied for membership in the BRICS bloc of developing economies, according to a senior Kremlin official. Turkey’s interest in joining BRICS, which includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, and other countries, is seen as a move to counter the West’s global influence. Erdogan has expressed a desire for Turkey to become a member of BRICS, as the country seeks to enhance its global influence and pursue a more independent foreign policy. The BRICS alliance aims to create a fairer world order and reform international institutions. Turkey’s application for BRICS membership will be considered at an upcoming meeting in Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed support for Turkey’s desire to join BRICS.
