Sarah McBride has made history by becoming the first transgender member of Congress, representing Delaware. She defeated her opponent, James Whalen III, with a campaign focused on protecting reproductive freedom and ensuring affordable childcare and healthcare for all. Sarah came out as transgender while running for student body president and has since been a strong advocate for LGBTQ rights. She has a background in community advocacy and has passed legislation to expand access to healthcare and provide paid family and medical leave to workers. Despite personal tragedy, including the loss of her husband to cancer, Sarah is dedicated to creating a better world for all.
