Russia says RT sanctions part of U.S. pre-election ‘information campaign’



Russia has criticized new U.S. sanctions on its state-funded media outlet RT, calling it an “information campaign” ahead of the presidential elections. The U.S. indicted two RT employees and imposed sanctions on top editors, accusing them of meddling in the election. Russia is working on a response, with the Foreign Ministry warning it will be harsh. This comes as relations between the two countries have deteriorated, with U.S. media scaling back operations in Russia. The U.S. also indicted two Russia-based RT employees for allegedly funneling money to a company for spreading Russian government messaging on social media.
