Separatist militants in Balochistan, Pakistan, launched a series of attacks, targeting police stations, vehicles on highways, and a railway line. The attacks resulted in at least 51 fatalities, including civilians and security personnel. The militants have been fighting for secession of the resource-rich province for decades. The Baloch Liberation Army claimed responsibility for the attacks, which included targeting workers from other provinces and Chinese interests. The government has vowed to retaliate and bring the perpetrators to justice. Balochistan, Pakistan’s largest but least populated province, continues to face high levels of poverty and underdevelopment.
