Archaeologists from Wessex Archaeology made an exciting discovery during an excavation at a construction site near Poole Harbour. They found a well-preserved wooden tool dating back over 3,000 years to the Bronze Age. The tool, made from a single piece of wood, is one of the oldest and most complete ever found in Britain. Its preservation is rare and unique, as organic materials like wood typically don’t survive in the ground for so long. The discovery sheds light on how humans adapted to the environment thousands of years ago. The tool is currently undergoing conservation and further studies to learn more about its significance.
