Nepal protesters clash with police over politician’s fraud charges

Rabi Lamichhane, a former deputy premier of Nepal, is facing charges of fraud and organized crime related to alleged embezzlement of funds from a financial cooperative. His supporters believe the charges are politically motivated. Known for his anti-corruption stance as a television host, Lamichhane rose to political power in 2022 but was later removed due to citizenship issues. He was recently arrested and protests erupted in support of him, with accusations that the government is trying to undermine his party. Supporters are calling for a fair investigation and are committed to fighting against what they see as injustice.
