Mount Everest remains believed to be climber who vanished 100 years ago

A National Geographic documentary team has found what they believe are the partial remains of a British climber who disappeared on Mount Everest 100 years ago. The foot encased in a sock with “AC Irvine” embroidery and a boot could belong to Andrew “Sandy” Irvine, who vanished with George Mallory in 1924. This discovery provides closure and clues for the climbing community. Mallory’s body was found in 1999, but the evidence of reaching Everest’s summit was missing. Finding Irvine’s remains could lead to finding a Kodak camera that could provide proof of their summit. Irvine’s family is willing to compare DNA to confirm the identity. This discovery brings emotional closure to Irvine’s family and the climbing community.
