More than 50,000 vaccinated against mpox in DR Congo, Rwanda: WHO



A health official in Congo is working hard to administer mpox vaccinations to help contain the outbreak that has spread to multiple countries in Africa. More than 50,000 people have already been vaccinated in Congo and Rwanda, with donations from the United States and the European Commission. The World Health Organization is allocating nearly 900,000 vaccine doses to nine countries to help combat the spread of the disease. Mpox, similar to smallpox, is transmitted through infected animals and close human contact, causing fever, body aches, and a rash. The outbreak is still not under control, and resources are needed to prevent a more severe pandemic.
