Mexican troops kill 19 suspected cartel members, suffer no casualties: officials



Mexican army troops recently engaged in a shootout with suspected drug cartel gunmen in Sinaloa, resulting in the deaths of 19 suspects. The troops suffered no casualties in the confrontation. The Defense Department defended the soldiers’ actions, stating they acted in self-defense and in accordance with human rights laws. The incident was part of ongoing violence between rival factions of the Sinaloa cartel. This clash marks one of the deadliest confrontations since a similar incident in 2014, where soldiers were accused of executing surrendered suspects.
