Malawi vice president, 9 others killed in plane crash, confirms president

Malawi’s Vice President Saulos Klaus Chilima and nine others were killed in a plane crash after their military aircraft went missing. The aircraft, which left Lilongwe, was unable to land at its destination due to poor visibility and went off the radar on its way back. President Lazarus Chakwera confirmed the tragedy and stated that the aircraft was found completely destroyed with no survivors. Chilima, a potential presidential candidate, had recently been cleared of corruption charges.
