Laken Riley Act: Why did US name law on illegal immigrants after the Riley murder?



U.S. President Donald Trump signed the Laken Riley Act, giving authorities more power to deport immigrants accused of crimes. The law requires the detention of unauthorized immigrants accused of theft and violent crimes. It is named after Laken Riley, a nursing student murdered by an immigrant living illegally in the U.S. Trump plans to increase deportations drastically and even mentioned sending some criminals to Guantanamo. Migrant rights groups are concerned about the impact of this new law.
