Japan’s Nihon Hidankyo wins 2024 Nobel Peace Prize



The Japanese organization Nihon Hidankyo, made up of atomic bomb survivors from Hiroshima and Nagasaki, has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for their efforts to achieve a world without nuclear weapons. The committee praised the Hibakusha for sharing their testimonies and showing the devastating consequences of nuclear warfare. This award highlights the importance of working towards a nuclear-free world and follows previous recognition of the issue by the Nobel Committee. The prize ceremony will take place on December 10th in Oslo, honoring the legacy of Alfred Nobel who founded the awards.
