Japan seeks stability but expects ‘China to behave …’: New foreign minister



Japan’s new foreign minister, Takeshi Iwaya, emphasized the importance of a responsible and constructive relationship with China based on shared interests. He expressed a willingness to cooperate with Beijing while also asserting Japan’s expectations for China to act responsibly. Despite tensions between the two countries, Iwaya highlighted the potential for cooperation and stressed the joint responsibility Japan and China have in promoting peace and prosperity in the region and globally. He also expressed concern over the escalating violence in the Middle East, particularly Iran’s missile attacks on Israel.
