An Indiana man who was involved in the U.S. Capitol riots on January 6, 2021, and was pardoned by President Trump was fatally shot by police during a traffic stop while allegedly resisting arrest. The man, Matthew Huttle, was pulled over by a sheriff’s deputy for a traffic violation, and a struggle ensued when the officer tried to arrest him. The officer shot Huttle during the altercation, as he was in possession of a firearm at the time. The officer involved is currently on leave, and an investigation is ongoing. Huttle had been at the Capitol for several hours during the riots and entered the building for approximately 10 minutes.
