Indonesia to evacuate 16,000 people after Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki eruption

The Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki volcano eruption in Indonesia has caused significant damage to school buildings and homes, leading to evacuations of at least 16,000 residents. The volcano remains on the highest alert status, with ongoing eruptions hampering evacuation efforts due to thick ash on roads. Residents have been temporarily relocated to school buildings and shelters until it is safe to return. The death toll stands at nine, with many injured and numerous houses and schools damaged. The government has declared a state of emergency and closed four airports on Flores Island. The situation highlights the seismic activity in the region.
