A former Indian government official, Vikash Yadav, has been charged in the US for allegedly leading a murder plot against a Sikh separatist in New York. Yadav was arrested in Delhi in December for an attempted murder case and is currently facing charges in India as well. His lawyer denies the charges and claims there is an international conspiracy to defame the Indian government. The US is expected to seek Yadav’s extradition. The case in Delhi involves allegations of kidnapping, assault, and robbery, with links to an organized crime gang leader named Lawrence Bishnoi. Canada has accused Indian government agents of having links to Bishnoi’s gang, which India denies.
