A 19-year-old MS-13 gang member, Luis Adolfo Guerra Perez, was arrested by federal immigration authorities in Massachusetts. He had pending state gun charges and had been ordered to be deported before being released by a Boston court. ICE agents arrested him and stated that he showed complete disregard for American laws. Despite being ordered to be deported in 2024, Guerra was released by federal authorities in May 2021. An East Boston District Court later arraigned him on various charges, including possession of a firearm and drugs. The court ignored an ICE detainer request due to sanctuary policies and released Guerra, who remains in federal custody.
