Hezbollah has announced the death of Sayyed Hashem Safieddine, the head of the Executive Council of the Resistance movement, in an Israeli airstrike. Safieddine was a key figure in the Lebanese resistance movement and was killed alongside fellow fighters in what Hezbollah called a “criminal and aggressive” attack. He was expected to be elected as Hezbollah’s next secretary general. The statement also highlighted Safieddine’s close relationship with the late Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.
