Budapest and Wroclaw reinforce river banks ahead of more flooding in Europe

Soldiers and firefighters are using sandbags to strengthen river embankments and provide aid to communities affected by severe flooding across Central Europe. The flooding has resulted in around 20 reported deaths, with casualties in multiple countries. In response to reports of looting, military and government authorities are cracking down on perpetrators. Volunteers in Hungary and Poland are working to fill sandbags and reinforce barriers along rivers. The situation remains critical in some areas, with Budapest and Wroclaw bracing for potentially higher water levels. Efforts to save towns and cities, such as Nysa, have seen residents come together in a human chain to protect their homes and communities. Authorities in Slovakia and the Czech Republic are also dealing with the aftermath of the flooding, with billions of euros in damage expected.
