The interim government of Bangladesh is working to bring back ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and others from India under the extradition treaty. Hasina has been living in India since August 2024 after fleeing Bangladesh following a student-led protest. Arrest warrants have been issued for Hasina and others for crimes against humanity. Efforts are being made to arrest those in the country, while legal steps are being taken to bring back those abroad. Interpol may soon issue red notices for those wanted by the International Crimes Tribunal. Passports of Hasina and others have been revoked over alleged involvement in enforced disappearances and killings. The High Court recently acquitted 47 people convicted in a case related to an attack on a train carrying Hasina in 1994.
