Ahmadinejad disqualified from presidential election as Iran approves 6 candidates

The Guardian Council in Iran has disqualified Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and four women from running for president in the upcoming elections. They have approved six candidates to run, including hardline figures and reformist lawmakers. Campaigning officially starts now until 24 hours before the elections on June 28. The election was moved up after President Ebrahim Raisi’s death in a helicopter crash.
