Franke’s daughter is warning parents about the dangers of posting children’s photos and videos online. Franke used her family vlog as a source of income, sometimes offering rewards to her children for filming embarrassing moments. The abuse of Franke’s children came to light when her son escaped and was found malnourished with duct tape on his wrists and ankles. Franke expressed regret during her sentencing hearing, acknowledging her distorted reality. Ruby Franke and her business partner Jodi Hildebrandt were arrested and charged after a dispatch call for help was made to Santa Clara police. They were sentenced to serve four consecutive terms between one and 15 years each for each charge. Shari, Franke’s daughter, spoke before the Utah legislature on October 16, just days before a Lifetime movie about her mother titled “Mormon Mom Gone Wrong” premiered. Shari expressed her disapproval of the film on Instagram, stating that she and her siblings were not contacted about it and will not receive any proceeds. She urged people not to support the movie. Shari’s upcoming book, “The House of My Mother,” is set to be published by Simon and Schuster on January 7.
