Woman allegedly attempts to douse self with petrol at collectorate

A 45-year-old woman architect from Palluruthy attempted to douse herself with petrol at the office of the Department of Local Self Government at the Ernakulam district collectorate. She was distressed after officials informed her that her licence might be temporarily cancelled due to alleged violations in the construction of a commercial complex. Her husband tried to stop her, but the petrol accidentally spilled on her. She was rushed to the hospital and is now in stable condition. She denied the charges and claimed that officials had issued a completion certificate without rectifying violations.
