The water discharge from the Mettur Dam for delta irrigation in Tamil Nadu has stopped after 184 days. The dam is crucial for irrigating agricultural lands in 12 delta regions, including Tiruchi, Thanjavur, and Cuddalore. This year, due to poor water availability, the opening of the dam’s shutters had to be postponed. The water level in the dam is currently at 110.75 feet out of its full capacity of 120 feet. The storage level is at 79.47 TMC out of 93.47 TMC. Despite the challenges, efforts are being made to manage water resources effectively for irrigation purposes.
