A video was shown during a court hearing of a Kentucky judge being shot by the ex-sheriff, Shawn “Mickey” Stines, in his chambers. The judge, Kevin Mullins, died at the scene, and Stines surrendered without incident. Police have not disclosed the motive for the shooting but mentioned an argument between the two prior to the incident. Stines pleaded not guilty to murder charges and is being held in another Kentucky county. The defense team highlighted previous issues involving a lawsuit against the sheriff’s office, including a deputy sheriff’s guilty plea of raping a female prisoner. The case will go to a grand jury, and Stines could face life in prison or even the death penalty if convicted.
