President-elect Donald Trump announced that Nikki Haley and Mike Pompeo will not be joining his administration. Haley, who served as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations in Trump’s first term, ran against him for the Republican nomination. Pompeo, who was secretary of state and CIA director, was being discussed as a possible contender for secretary of defense. Haley endorsed Trump in 2020 after suspending her campaign. Both Haley and Pompeo endorsed Trump at the Republican National Convention. Trump also announced Susie Wiles as his White House chief of staff, the first woman to hold that post.
