Russia-Ukraine drawing South and North Korea troops unlikely to spike regional conflict

North Korea recently blew up sections of inter-Korean roads on its side of the border, leading to smoke rising from the area. There are concerns about North Korean troops potentially entering the Russia-Ukraine war, but experts believe this is unlikely to escalate into a wider conflict between the two Koreas. South Korea is reportedly considering sending intelligence personnel to Ukraine to support the country. While South Korea has not confirmed this plan, it has warned that it may send arms depending on cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang. Experts believe that South Korea is unlikely to approve the deployment of troops for combat in Ukraine, and instead may send observers or support personnel. Tensions in the Korean peninsula have been rising, but armed conflict is not currently expected. North Korea’s support for Russia is seen as a strategic move to deepen relations and gain benefits without impacting the Korean peninsula.
