NGO demands biodiversity hub tag for Nandi Hills

The Universal Human Rights Service Foundation is urging the Karnataka government to declare Nandi Hills as a biodiversity hub to protect its natural beauty and wildlife. The founder-president, C.D. Kiran, emphasized the importance of eco-friendly practices and minimal infrastructure development to maintain the area’s serenity. He criticized recent amendments to the Karnataka Government Parks Act for allowing unauthorized buildings to encroach on the hills. The NGO also opposes the proposal for a ropeway at Nandi Hills, citing potential harm to the ecosystem. They are calling for the preservation of Nandi Hills as a World Heritage site for future generations to enjoy.
