In early November, skywatchers have the chance to see three active meteor showers lighting up the night sky. The Southern Taurids and Northern Taurids meteor showers are expected to peak, producing slow-moving meteors under clear and dark skies. The Orionid meteor shower, which peaked on Oct. 20, will still be visible until Nov. 22. The Taurids showers are long-lasting and best seen in early November, with the best chance of spotting them around midnight on or around Nov. 5. The Leonid meteor shower will peak late on Nov. 17, producing up to 15 shooting stars per hour. It’s best to view these meteor showers away from light pollution for the best experience.
