Jack Dorsey’s Block expands Square Card service to the UK

Tech billionaire Jack Dorsey’s company, Block, has launched its corporate card service in the U.K. through its business-focused arm, Square. This marks the first time the company has expanded its business card offering outside of North America. The Square Card is a free business spending card that provides quick access to funds, competing with companies like American Express. The launch in the U.K. aims to help merchants manage daily expenses more easily and have real-time access to funds. This move will increase competition with local banking giants and European fintech players. The service does not charge monthly fees, maintenance fees, or foreign exchange fees. The launch comes at a time when the U.K. is trying to attract global technology businesses, despite controversial tax changes.
