Israel’s Benny Gantz resigns over lack of plan for postwar Gaza

Benny Gantz, a member of Israel’s war cabinet, has resigned, but it does not immediately threaten Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s majority coalition in parliament. Gantz’s departure makes Netanyahu more reliant on his far-right allies. Gantz joined the government after a Hamas attack in a show of unity and has good working relationships with US officials. He had set a deadline for leaving the government if Netanyahu did not come up with a new plan for postwar Gaza.
