Initial DNA test on remains believed to be of suspected Kentucky highway shooter is inconclusive

State officials confirmed that remains found believed to be those of Joseph Couch, the suspect in the Interstate 75 shootings, had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The initial DNA test was inconclusive due to decomposition, but further testing will be done. Couch had been the subject of a manhunt after shooting five people on Interstate 75. An autopsy revealed the cause of death, and personal articles and a gun found near the body indicate it was Couch. A couple livestreaming the search for his body assisted in the discovery and will receive a reward. Further DNA testing from bone material will be done to confirm the identity.
