Indias Food Consumption Pattern Emerges As Most Sustainable, As Per WWF Report



The way food is consumed in India has been ranked as the most sustainable in the world, according to the Living Planet Report 2024 by WWF. The report highlights the need for climate-friendly food consumption globally and details how many G20 countries exceed the planetary climate boundary for food-related greenhouse gas emissions. India and Indonesia are the only countries that have not exceeded this limit, with India having the lowest consumption pattern, requiring less than one Earth to meet food demands. The report emphasizes the importance of promoting traditional foods and local traditions to achieve healthy and sustainable diets. Countries like Argentina, Australia, and the United States have been ranked as having the least sustainable food consumption patterns, with suggestions provided on how to improve the situation.
