The Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) is launching a new initiative called Fish Walk in Kochi to educate the public and students about marine biodiversity. Similar to bird watching, Fish Walk will provide hands-on opportunities to learn about fish and marine life in the region. The inaugural Fish Walk will be on October 19, with more walks scheduled for October 26 and November 16 and 23. Participants can join scientists on field trips to record marine biodiversity and learn about the marine ecosystem. This initiative aims to raise awareness about conservation efforts and challenges faced by the fisheries sector. Students and marine biology enthusiasts are encouraged to apply by emailing their interest statement to fishwalkcmfri@gmail.com by October 17.
