Frankincense Garden in Mudam to store rich flora of Dhofar

The Frankincense Garden in Salalah’s Mudam area is part of a larger initiative to showcase Dhofar’s rich flora. With over 11,000 trees planned for the 181,000 square metre garden, it is a crucial green space. In collaboration with various organizations and the local community, 500 frankincense trees have already been planted. The goal is to plant 5,000 trees by 2024, as part of Oman’s national strategy to plant 10 million trees. The project aims to preserve Dhofar’s unique biodiversity, with efforts including tree nurseries and protecting wild plants. By mid-2024, 2,350 trees had already been successfully planted, reflecting ongoing efforts to protect and propagate native species in the region.
