The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in Pakistan has extended the deadline for submitting income tax returns to October 31. This decision was made in response to requests from trade bodies and tax bar associations, as well as due to banking holidays in Islamabad and Rawalpindi ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation’s meeting. This extension is in line with past practices of the FBR, which has regularly extended the deadline for tax return submissions. The extension is part of the government’s efforts to boost tax revenue and secure a bailout deal with the International Monetary Fund.
