DU panel proposes changes to paper on Delhi’s history

Delhi University’s Committee of Courses has proposed revisions to a history paper called ‘Delhi Through the Ages: the Making of its Early Modern History’, which will be discussed at an upcoming Academic Council meeting. The proposed changes include removing a text by Professor Irfan Habib and renaming the first unit to focus more on ancient history. Some members of the university community find these changes concerning, while others believe it is important to give equal importance to ancient history in the curriculum. Mythological sites like ‘Yoginipura’ have also been added to the syllabus. Overall, the revisions aim to balance the focus on ancient, medieval, and modern history in the course.
