Dan Evans, a three-term Republican governor of Washington state who also served in the U.S. Senate, has passed away at the age of 98. He was known for his dedication to public service and putting Washington state first. Evans was a moderate to liberal Republican who focused on environmental issues, creating the state Department of Ecology and supporting clean air and water legislation. He also helped establish the nation’s first state Department of Ecology. After leaving politics, he continued to serve as a regent at the University of Washington and on various nonprofit and corporate boards. Evans leaves behind a legacy of bipartisan collaboration and dedication to the greater good.
