Bengaluru start-up strives to bridge the indigenous data gap in precision oncology

In February, it was reported that cancer cases are on the rise in India, despite advancements in oncology. One major gap identified was the lack of data, especially for non-Caucasian populations. 4baseCare, a Bengaluru-based startup, aims to address this by creating a gene panel specifically for the Indian population. Through extensive research, they developed a panel called TarGT IndieGene, which is based on indigenous data. The startup works with over 300 oncologists in India and plans to expand to other countries in Southeast Asia and the Middle East. They are also exploring the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning to further personalize cancer treatment based on genomic data. While they do not claim to cure patients completely, they believe that data-backed decisions can improve outcomes for cancer patients.
