Banks to remain closed on Nov 9

The State Bank of Pakistan has announced that all banks will be closed on November 9 in honor of the birth anniversary of Dr. Allama Mohammad Iqbal, also known as Iqbal Day. The federal government has declared a public holiday across the country to observe the occasion. Dr. Iqbal played a significant role in inspiring Muslims to seek independence, and special prayers will be held for the progress of Pakistan. Known as the ‘Poet of the East’, Iqbal was born on November 9, 1877, and is credited with advocating for a separate homeland for Muslims. A Change of Guards ceremony will be held at his mausoleum in Lahore to commemorate his legacy.
